Memorial mass

The memorial mass for Francis will be held on next Friday, September 28, at 10am, at St. Gabriel Church, 3016 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211. Guests are invited to join the family and friends afterwards at the church’s fellowship hall to celebrate his life. More details later.

Goodbye, dear Francis

Our beloved Francis died at home at 2:30 this morning

New update

Francis no longer able to communicate or open his eyes. His breathing very labored. At this point, please keep him in your prayers. We shall let you know of further changes. Thank you for your kind messages and loving thoughts.

Update

Fran is lapsing into sleep most of the time, and hardly able to communicate when spoken to. Best to send positive thoughts, and keep him in your prayers.

Fran’s voice is weak, So hard to talk on phone, although he can see visitor any time. Feel free to leave comments here, and we will read them to him.

Francis is home

Francis is home under the care of Hospice, and also 24/7 private home care. That is his wish, and he is happy to be surrounded by friends in his own home.

Back to home tomorrow

No more doctor appointments. Fran will be going home tomorrow, Wednesday, afternoon. He will have 24/7 home care.

Change

Francis has grown very weak. Tomorrow, Tuesday’s appointment has been moved to 12 noon so that they can also do an MRI. So he will be out in the afternoon tomorrow.

Doctor appointments

Francis has many appointments coming up, so these are times to avoid visiting: Friday, Sep 7, 4pm, ct scan. Monday, Sep 10, 10am, oncologist. Tuesday, Sep 11, 9am, surgent. Wednesday, Sep 12, 8:30am, endocrinologist. Hope that helps if you are considering dropping in on him.

Stay at Royal Park

Meeting to discuss his possible discharge scheduled for Sept 6, so looks like he will be at Royal Park at least till then. Meanwhile they are working on his rehab, and he is much happier at this place.

He is back and fine. Just minor sctatch.

A fall in the bathroom

Fran had a fall in the bathroom that caused a minor cut. He is being checked at CMC to make sure nothing else happened to him. Will update once he is back from hospital.

Therapy time

His therapy is usually for about half an hour, and usually done no later than 4pm. You can call him at his cell phone, or his room phone at 704 443-3631.

Great News!

Fran went to see his neuro-oncologist this morning.  She showed us his latest MRI after surgery and she said it was "gorgeous".  There is one large dark shadow where the tumor used to be.  There is nothing suspicious left behind. So now his steroid intake can start being reduced. Also great news is that, as promised, his tumor tissues will be tested and to see if his exhibits any of the "markers" that would qualify him for experimental drugs for immuno-therapy instead of going back to chemo or radiation. Also this morning, two days after moving to Royal Park,  he seems to have recovered some of his strength.  He could stand up on his own and his voice is much stronger.  Very good signs!
He can eat anything except foods with high sugar. So please keep that in mind when you bring food to him.

Just transferred to Royal Park rehab in Matthews, room 416.

Fran is moving to Royal Park Rehab

Fran has been very unhappy with Sardis Oaks Rehab.  The staff's performance has been very poor. So we got him accepted at Royal Park Rehab in Matthews.  They will pick him up on Aug. 22 at 3:00 PM. He had stayed there before and was happy there.
